In Honor of LCpl Dustin R. Fitzgerald / Krystal Duss's Mom == Jo Ann Webb (friend) Thinking of Dusty on August 18 and everyday and sending my love and understanding to Melody, Michael, Brandon and Shannon.

Dear Melody, Michael, Brandon and Shannon, my heart breaks that Dusty died at such a young age. My father, Henry C. Locke, Sr retired with 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He survived the Battan Death March and was a Prisioner-of-War in Japanese Prison Camps for four years in WWII. He also served in the Korean War. I grew up as the child of a Proud Marine. I went to on base Marine Schools as a young child and saw on a daily basis the dedication, expertise, honor and pride each Marine held in his heart for the priveledge of being a Marine. My dad died September 1, 2006 and the only thing besides his name and birth and death dates that he wanted on his headstone was the Marine Emblem. That says it all about the Marine Corps!
My heart has always been heavy that young men and women have died in the service of our country. I have always felt an enormous sense of gratitude and sorrow that they gave their lives for our freedom. My heart has always broke for the Moms and Dads, brothers and sisters who have had to carry the unimaginable loss of their soldier for the rest of their lives.
My 29 year old daughter, Krystal Duss, was killed by a drunk driver on December 10,2003. Krystal and her husband were bringing their one year old sons home from a trip to the doctor when a drunk driver hit their mini-van and killed my sweet child. So I know now the horror of having our child die. I am so sorry for your loss of Dusty, so sorry.
My heart breaks for each of you. To Dusty I say thank you for defending our country and for giving your life for our freedom. Dusty, I wish you were still here with your family who loves and misses ou with every breath. As the saying goes, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine". "Semper Fi" LCpl Dustin R. Fitzgerald and Master Sargeant Henry Clay Locke, Sr.

In honor of Dusty here is the Marine Hymn From the halls of Montezuma To the shores of Tripoli,
We fight our countrys battles In the air, on land, and sea,
First to fight for right and freedom , And to keep our honor clean,
We are proud to claim the title Of United States Marines. Our flags unfurl'd to every breeze From dawn to setting sun.
We have fought in every clime and place Where we could take a gun.
In the snow of far-off northern lands And in sunny tropic scenes,
You will find us always on the job - The United States Marines. Here's health to you and to our Corps Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we've fought for life And never lost our nerve.
If the Army and the Navy Ever gaze on Heaven's scenes,
They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines.
In honor of Dusty here is the Marine Prayer Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones, and Thee without shame or fear. Protect my family.
Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance. Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my Country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.
If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again. Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.
